When Is the Best Time to Sell Your Home in West Sussex?

Deciding when to put your home on the market is one of the most significant choices you will make in the selling process. Many people traditionally wait for the spring rush, believing it’s the most opportune time. However, recent data suggests that acting sooner could give you a distinct advantage. As one of West Sussex’s leading property experts, we at Bacon and Company are committed to providing you with the insights needed to make an informed decision. Analysis of market trends reveals that February may just be the perfect month to list your property.

Extensive research from Rightmove, one of the UK’s largest property portals, has shed new light on the best time to sell. After examining millions of home listings over a ten-year period, the results point to late winter as the ideal moment to capture a buyer’s attention.

The study, which excluded the pandemic-affected year of 2020, found that homes listed in February have the highest likelihood of finding a buyer. A remarkable 68.9% of properties listed during this month successfully went on to be sold. This figure narrowly edges out the traditionally strong spring months, positioning February as the number one month for selling success.

In addition to a higher success rate, selling in late winter can also be quicker. The data shows that homes listed in February took an average of just 48 days to find a buyer. This is only one day behind January, which was the fastest month at 47 days. By listing your home at the beginning of the year, you can attract serious buyers who are ready to move, potentially speeding up your entire transaction.
